Carlos del Campo, secretary general of Liga de Futbol Profesional, handed an emergency case over to Alberto Jofre Bernardo, managing director of the Spanish Paralympic Committee, so that it could be included in the medical material that our Paralympic delegation took to London for the Olympic Games. Dr. Tomas Fernandez Jaen, the committee's doctor, was also present in the event.
The emergency case lent to the Paralympic team was one of the cases that the LFP has available for the emergency services of Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante stadiums during the season. It includes a defibrillator and all the items recommended by the Liga's Medical Commission to deal with any emergency that may arise during matches.
The LFP has provided these cases since the beginning of the 2007/2008 season for all the Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante matches.
The General Assembly of Liga de Futbol Profesional (LFP) met on the 22nd of June 2012 in an extraordinary meeting and ratified the protocol approved by the Delegate Commission and whose aim is to control and reduce the debt of football clubs with the Spanish Tax Office.
That protocol had been signed on the 25th of April 2012 by the Ministry for Education, Culture and Sport, the Higher Sports Council and the LFP.

Liga de Futbol Profesional (LFP) held on Monday the 2nd of July 2012 the official opening event for the 2012/13 season, which symbolised the new configuration of Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante, and welcomed the promoted clubs. The event had the participation of Jose Luis Astiazaran, former chairman of the LFP, Augusto Cesar Lendoiro, Carlos Mouriño and Carlos Suárez, chairmen of the Deportivo, Celta and Valladolid respectively; Manuel Cerezo, member of the board of directors of Real Madrid Castilla; Angel Fernandez, vice-chairman of Mirandes and Jose Fernandez and Jose Bono, chairmen of Ponferradina and Lugo respectively. Moreover, it was attended by representatives of BBVA, sponsor and title sponsor of the LFP. Flags of each of the clubs participating in Liga BBA and Liga Adelante were placed, in order of seniority. The LFP's chairman congratulated the clubs that had been promoted and the Spanish national team for winning the Eurocup a few days earlier, and so did the remaining participants. They all mentioned the contribution that clubs are making for the training of excellent players, who go on to play in the national team and that, luckily, tend to choose to play in our league. Moreover, all the chairmen and clubs' representatives wished to highlight the important support of BBVA, which has helped to maintain our league as the best league in the world, as demonstrated by our successes and international awards and acknowledged by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics. |
The Higher Sports Council (CSD) and Liga de Futbol Profesional (LFP) held in the morning of the 2nd of July 2012 the first encounter with representatives from the clubs promoted to Liga Adelante. Lugo, Mirandes and Ponferradina received formal information on their new status, as well as on the necessary requirements to compete in the professional competition and the steps needed to transform a club into a sports public limited company (SAD).
Given that Real Madrid Castilla is a B team there was no need for it to attend the meeting.
Manuel Lopez, CSD's inspection general deputy manager; Carlos del Campo, secretary general of the LFP; Angel Fernandez and Luis Pobes, vice-chairman and manager of Mirandes respectively; Jose Bouso, chairman of Lugo and Carlos Mouriz, sports director of that same team; and from Ponferradina, Jose Fernandez, its chairman, and Eduardo Dominguez, CEO, also attended this first meeting.
The Delegate Commission of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) approved changes to several articles of the RFEF's General Regulations in the meeting held on the 16th of May 2012. Those changes were endorsed and approved by the Steering Committee of the Higher Sports Council on the 26th of June 2012.
The most important changes mainly affected the handling of the first professional licence in this kind of competitions, having to prove the payment of that licence as a prior requirement to obtaining the LFP's approval. At the same time, and within the framework of these competitions, specific criteria were established regarding the compulsory nature of these kinds of licenses.
The General Assembly of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) drew lots on the morning of the 10th of July to decide the calendar for the 2012/13 Season of the national league championship, which started on the weekend of the 18/19 of August and ended on the 1st of June (Liga BBVA) and on the 3rd of June (Liga Adelante).
Normal competition for Liga Adelante ended on Sunday 9th of June 2013, but then the play-offs for promotion were played on the 12, 16, 19 and 23 of that same month.
The season started with the Spanish Supercup, played between Barcelona and Real Madrid. The first leg was played on the 23rd of August at Camp Nou and the second leg seven days later at Santiago Bernabeu.
In turn, the final of the Copa del Rey (King's Cup) was played on the 17th of May 2013.

On the 10th of July 2012, Nike presented the ball that was used in the recently finished 2012/13 season, both for Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante. The ball was the Nike Maxim ball, with 'RaDaR' technology, improving its visibility thanks to its design. According to the manufacturer, the changes consisted on a "striking geometric graphic design that generates great visual strength" and "with great definition". Moreover, it uses "bright colours and well defined contrasts" so that visibility of the ball in the pitch is improved. In order for players to have better handling when controlling or passing the ball, it is made of five layers that make it respond well at the first touch. At the same time, the 360 sweet spot system allowed a "solid reaction after it's been hit", according to the manufacturer. This new model, with its specific designs, was also the official ball in the Italia Serie A and in the English Premier League. |
Liga de Futbol Profesional's assembly convened in the morning of Monday 16th of July 2012 in an ordinary meeting. It approved the annual report, financial statements and the settlement of the income and expenditure budget for 2011/12, as well as the draft income and expenditure budget for the 2012/13 season. They were both drafted by the Delegate Commission.

Javier Tebas Medrano, representative of Huesca, was chosen as the second vice-chairman of the LFP after the elections that ended on the 26th of July 2012. As for the vacancies in the Delegate Commission, the Liga's governing and general administration body, those vacancies were covered by the Athletic Club, Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Real Sociedad, Sevilla and Mallorca, from Liga BBVA, and by Recreativo, Elche, Numancia, Las Palmas, Real Madrid Castilla and Almería, from Liga Adelante. There was no need for a vote given that the number of candidates was the same as the number of vacancies. |
On the 20th of July 2012, Liga Nacional de Futbol Profesional wanted to show publicly its support to Sevilla FC's Board of Directors in its fight to eradicate violence amongst a minority of its fans. It also fully supported the measures taken by the governing body in terms of access control and security at its stadium and the application of disciplinary measures to those that violate the regulation in force.
The back then chairman of Liga de Futbol Profesional (LFP), Jose Luis Astiazaran, attended on the 12th of September 2012 the award ceremony to give the Gold Medal of the Royal Order of Sporting Merit to football coach Manuel Preciado, who passed away on the 6th of June 2011.
The ceremony was chaired by the Secretary of State for sport Miguel Cardenal, and it was held at the auditorium of the Palace of Magdalena (Santander).
The Royal Order of Sporting Merit is one of the top awards received in Spanish sport. It was created by a Royal Decree in 1982 to promote, boost and disseminate physical culture and sport and to recognise the work of those who help to promote sport values.

Liga de Futbol Profesional (LFP) signed in September 2012 a collaboration agreement with PAF, a games of chance company owned by the state (Aland, Finland) with its own licence in Spain and whose benefits are solely devoted to social causes. The collaboration agreement was initially in force for the 2012/13 season. The LFP asserted it was especially satisfied with signing an agreement with PAF, as it is a very innovative company in its sector, market-oriented and that promotes quality communication with its customers. As stated by Francisco Roca, back then CEO of the LFP, "we are very happy with PAF's decision to sign a collaboration agreement with the LFP because we share essential values with them and because it understands that thanks to this partnership it will be able to offer its customers in Spain added value and unique experiences". Anders Ingves, CEO of Paf, also spoke in similar terns, stating his satisfaction for "having partnered with the best football league of the world" and asserting that "this alliance will allow us to offer our customers unique experiences and products. We are relatively new in the market and this brings us much closer to the Spanish consumer. I firmly believe that this sponsorship will strengthen Paf's growth, which is already proving to have a positive trend in Spain". |
During the Liga matches of the 29th and 30th of September 2012, the importance of respect, correctness and sportsmanship in football was recalled in all the stadiums thanks to the holding of the 2nd Day of Fair Play in Spanish football.
The referee team and the two playing teams came out to the pitch accompanied by three children, two of them wearing shirts of the campaign and one with the referee uniform, symbolising the importance of this event that brought together all football representatives: Liga (LFP), the Federation (RFEF), the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), the Association of Trainers and United Supporters (AFEPE) and with the support of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), FIFA and UEFA.
The Day was one of the activities included in the National Agreement for the Implementation of Fair Play in Spanish Football, signed by the above mentioned bodies on the 1st of February 2012.

On the 24th of September 2012, the University CEU San Pablo and the Foundation Fundacion del Futbol Profesional (FFP) signed a collaboration framework agreement. Representatives from both institutions signed the agreement: Jose Luis Astiazaran Iriondo, the back them chairman of the FFP, who at the time was also the chairman of Liga de Futbol Profesional (LFP), and the Vice-chancellor of University CEU San Pablo Juan Carlos Dominguez Nafria. The content of this first agreement was only to agree on collaboration between both institutions in order to run a diploma on Sports Law at the School of Law (Under the direction of lecturer Dr. Alberto Palomar Olmeda). A further specific agreement will be signed in the future specifying the conditions, goals and the necessary resources for the development of this collaboration (and of others that could arise). The agreement is valid for one year, tacitly renewed in similar periods. During the signing event, Astiazaran stated his desire that all the experience the LFP has acquired after so many years of sport management "may be transferred to the new generations". The main goal is for "Sports Law to provide value in its professional arena." In line with these words, Dominguez Nafria stated he was confident that the setting up of this new diploma may lead to the creation of "new places to study and of university activities".
