Prevention and criminal prosecution in Europe were the focus of the International Forum "Audio-visual piracy in professional football" held at LaLiga's headquarters.
Javier Tebas, chairman of LaLiga, defined piracy in the opening of the Forum stating that "it is simply stealing" and showed his concern on an activity that goes against the interest of the football industry. "The notion of everything for free is very much embedded in our society and we must change that mind-set to protect ourselves, otherwise it will cost us money and talent". In turn, Enrique Cerezo stated that "piracy is a widespread, unresolved evil". The chairman of Club Atlético de Madrid stated that "the government has to put an end to this because it is affecting the industry of leisure and entertainment." Jose Manuel Gomez Bravo, director of intellectual property at Prisa Group, stated that Spain "is the second country of the world in the piracy ranking".
Ricardo Gómez, chairman of IPRODED (Institute for the protection of rights in a digital environment) considered that audio-visual piracy has caused "a delicate situation due to the seriousness of the facts and to pre-legislative procedures that are complicated and contradictory." Ruth Hoy, legal advisor of the Premier League, stated that cinema, music and football in the United Kingdom are protected by law, by judges and lawyers. In turn, Olivier Santivi, legal advisor of the French professional league stated that in France sport content is the greatest target of piracy, however since 2012 the amount of attacks has decreased due to some extent to the support of courts and the law. Bruno Pifarotti, legal advisor of the Italian league, stated that "piracy is a very serious problem" and underlined that, in order to fight this evil, it is necessary to adopt measures and coordinate them.

Tuesday, 15th of July 2014
The new cycle of LaLiga´s seminars on sports law focused on the prevention of sport fraud.
The latest talk of LaLiga's first Seminar on sports law for the 2014/15 season was run by Manuel Quintanar, head of the Integrity Department at LaLiga, who spoke about "actions that must be followed when faced with fraud". The main topics of his talk were sport fraud prevention, training and detection of risks and practical, procedural, disciplinary and criminal responses that can be given.
Quintanar started by highlighting that "dated and recorded events regarding fraudulent activities are only the tip of the iceberg. We cannot measure efficiency in the prosecution of the cases identified because it is not representative of the market´s reality". To explain the nature of sport fraud, LaLiga´s integrity department recalled that "often, sports people, footballers in our case, are the victims. It is the environment that fosters the crime".
To explain the reasons for the increase on fraud, Quintanar quantified in 2% the world´s GDP related directly or indirectly with football. "The betting market has led to a significant underground economy that links crime and sport". Quintanar also stated that the infrastructure of the competitions can foster the creation of this kind of crimes.

The presentation was held at the Vicente Calderón stadium and had the participation of the chairwoman of the Spanish State Lotteries and Betting organisation (LAE), Inmaculada García, the secretary of state for sports (CSD), Miguel Cardenal, the chairman of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo and the head of Marketing at LaLiga, Adolfo Bara.
LAE´s chairwoman recalled that La Quiniela is a synonym of tradition. "It must have a predominant position in the football proposal. We aim to continue being the sporting bet for all Spaniards", stressed Inmaculada García.
"Lottery is the engine that moves national sport. La Quiniela has made Spanish football huge. The best league of the world must have the best betting pool of the world", stated the CSD´s chairman, Miguel Cardenal. He finished his presentation with a clear message: "La Quiniela is the biggest sponsor of Spanish sport".
Adolfo Bara, Marketing director of LaLiga, thanked the LAE for their collaboration to carry out the technological innovations project by presenting the "La Quiniela en vivo" app. "It is very user-friendly, simple and we are convinced that it will meet the needs of all fans who have not played La Quiniela yet," stated Bara, who stressed that thanks to this tool "fans will take football and La Quiniela in their pockets".
Enrique Cerezo was the host at the Atlético´s stadium. The head of the club from Madrid was very optimistic when asked about the prospects for the new season. ¨"I think Atlético de Madrid will win two titles. We will have a better team than last season." Former Basque player Julio Salinas asserted that, when he used to play, "La Quiniela was the way to feel part of a clan."
La Quiniela has brought important changes. The most significant one: higher prizes and million-worth jackpots, maintaining its leading position amongst sport bets. Those getting 14 results right received more money whilst those getting the full 15 results right got a higher and overhauled prize. From that moment on, it would be about getting right the number of goals for each team.
The new and innovative APP "La Quiniela en vivo" was also presented. It offered the possibility to validate the lottery ticket on the mobile, tablet and other devices. Moreover, international matches of the best European leagues of interest to Spanish fans have been included. Also, the price per bet remained unchanged at 50 cents.

Thursday, 24th of July 2014
The event organised by LaLiga arrived at the city of Cali with the firm objective of helping children.
The second LFP World Challenge tour took Marca España and Spanish football to all corners of the world. Cali, the Colombian city, welcomed RC Deportivo de La Coruña as part of the world event organised by LaLiga, an event that was mainly focused on helping children.
The Marriott Hotel was the venue chosen for the press conference to present the tour in that city. It had the presence of LaLiga´s managing director for the second tour of the LFP World Challenge, Ignacio Martínez Trujillo, footballers Manuel Pablo and Juan Domínguez and the coordinator of the department of sports in Cali, Carlos Diago.
Ignacio Martínez was the first to take the floor to assert that the LFP World Challenge aims to "offer an opportunity stage for peoples, cultures and countries. The message that the LFP World Challenge desires to put forward is a message of collaboration". The event´s managing director highlighted the importance of South America.
"We have chosen Colombia for an experience that will give the opportunity to those city councils that work with children to have more chances of funding those programs," stated Ignacio Martínez, who also highlighted that "football is education, training, social integration and opportunity, because football also teaches".
Thus, LaLiga gave its support to the city council of Cali so that the children participating in the education programs were the protagonists. "Currently, we have 24,500 children all over Cali in training programs", stated Carlos Diago, before thanking Liga de Fútbol Profesional for its support, because thanks to its effort, over 10,000 children with whom they work could watch the match between Deportivo and Asociación Deportivo Cali for free.
The lucky children who attended the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero did so accompanied by their parents and the adults who work with them in the city council´s projects. With this initiative, LaLiga aimed to give those children the opportunity to watch a world-class match in a totally safe environment and to offer them support in football development.

The Spanish team, which participated in the second tour of the LFP World Challenge, taught around 50 boys and girls from Lima.
The importance of Valencia team´s footballers was transferred to boys and girls aged 7 to 10 from the school "Arenita de Mar" from Villa El Salvador, which participated in a campus with the Spanish team at Peru´s capital. Nerves led way to commotion when Rubén Vezo, Antonio Barragán, José Gayá, Paco Alcácer, Vinicius Araújo and Jaume started their lessons on the pitch of the Alejandro Villanueva stadium.
Raúl Fernández, a Spanish teacher who lives in Lima, was responsible for the activity and felt very proud to explain the goal of "Sport and Life". "We find in sport a safe place for the neighbourhood", stated Raúl. The children who take part in this program come from neighbourhoods with social problems and, thanks to football, they adopt discipline and healthy-eating habits.
Spanish football goes beyond borders and thanks to the LFP World Challenge the little ones knew perfectly well all the teams that make up LaLiga. A group picture with players, coaches and the obvious protagonists, the children, marked the end of an unforgettable campus for young footballers.
